Any time you want to move files to the Web from your computer, those files need to be "uploaded". To upload files to the web you need an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program. Exodus Online Services recommends using CuteFTP (click here to download). Once you have installed the program on your computer you will need to open it up. Once it's open you want to go to the mail screen which looks like this: As you can see, there are three areas. One shows the files on your computer, one shows the files on the Web server where, and one shows what's going on. Before you can upload files, however, you need to log onto the correct server. Click the Lightning Bolt at the top left hand corner of the window called "Quick Connect". This will bring up a window that looks like this:
You only need to know three
things. First in the Host Address Box, you will need to type in the
name of the server you wish to upload your files to. Here is a list
of servers you may need to upload files to:
Once the Status Window stops moving you will need to find the file(s) you wish to transfer from your computer on the left side. Then go into the correct folder which you wish to deposit the files on the file. When both sides are at the correct locations, drag the file you wish to upload from the left to the right. This is done by selecting the file and holding the left mouse button down. While still pressed, move the mouse to the other window dragging the file along and release the button. Watch the Status Window to be sure you were successful. |
